so g-dragon finally realeased a music video for "she's gone". which just so happens to be my favorite song on "heartbreaker", his solo album.

and i must say, the kinda weird/creeper/stalker look works for him.


also, i like his hair.

so, in an effort to help me make my decision, i have decided to make a pros and cons list.

PROS:

2) they're pretty.

3) i listen to music alllllllllllll the time, so it's not like i wouldn't use them.

4) i've been wanting them since october.

CONS:

1) they'll cost about $200. before shipping.

this weekend, i may--or may not--have gone to see the g-dragon concert/movie.

also, is it bad that i'm pretty much in love with a guy named "g-dragon"??

my students are amazing

so i seriously have the best students. EVER.

it's amazing how a simple comment from a student can make your day a hundred times better. today's comment was from one of my favorite 5th grade girls: "teacha, teacha. today you are so beauty-ful." ^__^

also, another girl from the same class gave me a present. a picture of T.O.P-->WIN.

last week, girls from my favorite 6th grade class saw me in the hallway and said [or screamed is more like it...] "teacha! nose, win! eyes, win! face, win!"

today, those same girls stopped me in the hallway to tell me that they had thought of the "perfect" korean name for me. so now my grade 6 students call me "miranda '남자 친구 없어요' teacher"*.

ohh. life.

*miss miranda doesn't have a boyfriend.

and also because today i discovered that i had a video-making program on my computer.

and the hip hop award goes to...putin...??

so i don't normally post stuff that's not related to korea/BIGBANG/music.

but--well--i guess this kinda is about music...

according to this article, vladimir putin, the prime minister of russia has been nominated for a rap/hip hop award. according to the article, he gave a speech about the evils of drugs and vodka [apparently only evil because it impairs one's ability to breakdance].

also, his speech was given using slang and hip hop beats playing in the background. interesting...

i mean, c'mon russia, we're talking about this guy:

if he doesn't win, he will kill you with his eyes...

so basically, that would be like me winning a grammy for song of the year because one time i was talking to someone and music was playing in the background.

or like me winning america's next top model because one time someone took a picture of me.

ridiculous?? i think so.

black day

today, april 14, is a korean holiday known as "black day".

since koreans are obsessed with so-called "lovers' holidays"*, black day was invented for the sole purpose of making people feel bad about being single.

*valentine's day [february 14]=girls buy chocolate for boys & white day [march 14]=boys buy chocolate and flowers for girls.

black day is, quite literally, singles' awareness day. today, singles are supposed to go out alone or in groups of other singles and cry into their 자장면 [jajangmyun].

good thing 자장면 is delicious.

meh. whatever.

the HOT list [volume one]

so. i have no classes today. which means i'm desk-warming. which also means that i'm quite bored.

thus, the idea for the "HOT list" was born.

today's topic will be [drum roll, please]...

#1: rain/비/정지훈

known for: being a singer, dancer, actor, producer, designer, and model. and also for being--quite possibly--the sexiest man in the world.

why he's hott: i think the picture explains it all.

#2: T.O.P/최승현

known for: being the rapper in BIGBANG [빅뱅]

why he's hott: he's amazingly attractive--from his intense eyes to his deep voice--he's the good guy disguised as the bad boy that every girl wants. he's also a really talented rapper. which is superhott.

#3: 이민호/lee min ho

known for: his role as 구준표 [gu jun pyo] in 꽃 보다 남자 [boys over flowers]

why he's hott: he acts. and he sings. and he played one of the hottest characters on korean television.

#4: 김재중/jaejoong/hero

known for: singing in the kpop group TVXQ/DBSK/동방신기

why he's hott: because he's a great singer. also, being in--arguably--the best/most popular kpop group helps, too. he also acts and models.

#5: taeyang/태양/동영배

known for: his obvious talent as a singer/dancer/pianist. also for taking off his shirt during BIGBANG [빅뱅] concerts and being super hott.

why he's hott: see above. and below.

#6: 김현중/kim hyun joong

known for: being a singer in SS501 and for his role as 윤지후 [yoon ji hoo] in 꽃 보다 남자 [boys over flowers]

why he's hott: he sings. and he plays the guitar. i should also mention that he cooks.

#7: 이승기/lee seung gi

known for: being an entertainer and for being in every commercial currently on television.

why he's hott: because he has the cutest smile ever. and he's pretty funny.

#8: 이창민/changmin

known for: being a singer in 2am

why he's hott: he sings in what is probably the most vocally talented kpop group.

known for: singing and playing guitar for cnblue. and for his role as 강신우 [kang shin woo] on the drama 미남이시네요 [you're beautiful].

why he's hott: umm. he sings and plays the guitar.

known for: singing, dancing, rapping, writing songs, and being the leader of BIGBANG [빅뱅]. he's also a fashion icon.

why he's hott: no reason, he just is. also, he plays the piano.

my weekend according to me

thursday:

so i feel like my weekend actually started on thursday, because that was the night of the amazingness concert.

basically, front row tickets are the best. and sitting about ten feet away from taeyang is also the best.

we got to the concert venue early. reallyyyy early. so we had a lot of time to wait and be anxious. and be excited. and by "excited" i, of course, mean "pee-in-your-pants-and-squeal-like-a-middle-school-girl excited". but it was well worth the wait. the second taeyang walked onto the stage, i absolutely thought i would melt. he sang two songs--"where u at" and "wedding dress"--and was positively amazing. and also amazingly hott. also, he made eye love to allison and i was kinda sorta a lot jealous.

and then, it was brian mcknight's turn. i have to say, before the concert, i wasn't too excited about seeing him. but man, was he ahh-freaking-mazing. also, his sons sang. the crappy part about that was that we ACTUALLY SAW HIS SONS while we were at dinner. we had the opportunity to talk to them, but wrote them off as chair-setter-uppers. yeah, we're pretty dumb. also, taeyang came back out to sing a duet with brian mcknight. which was bangin'. during this part, i made a "hand heart" and screamed "i love you, dong young-bae" [his real name]. multiple times. in korean and english. at which point he smiled, looked in my direction, and pointed. [i would like to think he was pointing at me and thinking "dang, that girl is attractive. she would be perfect for my friend t.o.p"].

so 1/5 of bigbang is kinda sorta aware-ish of my existence. so my plan is very rapidly-ish falling in to place.

friday:

i caught a bus to 강릉 to visit whit-nizzle for the weekend. we stayed in a love motel. my first love motel experience. it was...not very exciting.

saturday:

we took the train to 고한. it was the last weekend that the ski slopes were open.

the only problem with this is that i have never been skiing or snowboarding before. this is because i am not at all coordinated in any way, shape, or form.

so we decided to go snowboarding. which, in my case, was an EPIC FAIL.

basically, it took me two hours to get maybe 150 feet down a part of the beginner slope. not even close to finishing. the highlights included: me running into a fence, running into a fence again, coming near a fence and grabbing on to it for dear life, and nearly getting my arm ripped off by said fence.

so then i gave up, and attempted a much more extreme sport: snowboard-sledding. that's right, i sat down on the snowboard and proceeded to sled down the slopes. which was SUPERFUN. but incredibly hard to steer. the highlights included: seeing that i was about to run into whitney, screaming in terror, running in to whitney, flipping off of the snowboard-sled, flailing in the snow while watching the snowboard continue without me down the mountain, and chasing the snowboard down the mountain.

good times.

sunday:

i caught the bus back to seoul. about an hour in to the trip, i am fairly certain that someone decided to poop on the bus.

i should add that:
1.) there were no babies or children on the bus.
2.) this was a FOUR HOUR LONG bus ride.
3.) even if the culprit had waited until the last five minutes, that would STILL have been too long to ride in a bus that smells like poop.
