i hate this love song~

so, lately i've been trying to avoid posting bigbang fangirlishness, and instead post about the other [less interesting things] that i do, which for some reason most people find more interesting to read.

but i reallyreallyreally like this. a lot.

a couple of weeks ago, bigbang released a special edition of their newest mini-album, with love song as one of the title songs. and yesterday they released acapella versions of three of the songs. they are seriously amazing, and this one is my favorite. [ackkkk~~T.O.P's voice at the beginning!!]

and here's the official music video for the song, if you'd like to hear what the song sounds like with the instrumental accompaniment.

my cat does not like bigbang~~

as you may [or may not] know, i've had a cat since october. [her name is 채린-->chae lin.] she's super cute, occasionally sweet, and she loves watching TV.

she also hates bigbang. which is rather unfortunate because i love them so much.

she especially hates T.O.P~~which is also quite unfortunate. and very disappointing.

one day, i came home from school only to discover that she had not only [somehow] ripped my T.O.P poster off the wall, but she was also trying to eat it. and tear it apart with her claws. and i'm not talking about just the corners or edges of the poster...she was viciously attacking his face. she also really hates his voice [probably because it's so deep]. whenever i listen to bigbang music, she'll scrunch up in the corner and hiss every time he has a solo part. [i realize that she's not smart enough to put his face with his voice, so it's kind of ironic that she would hate that voice so much and that face...without realizing that they belong to the same person...]
anyways, yesterday, i was watching MNet Countdown [it's exactly what it sounds like...artists perform their new songs, and at the end they'll announce the winner who had the number one single for that week]. 채린 really enjoys TV, so she was just sitting on the edge of my bed watching...but then she did something unusual...

the second C.N.Blue started performing, she jumped up, right next to the TV, and she sat there completely immobile until their performace was over. [she especially seemed to like 정용화-->jung yong hwa, the guy in the picture.]

immediately after C.N.Blue, BIGBANG performed. 채린 was absolutely not happy about this. the second T.O.P started singing, she literally ran away from the TV...as fast as her little legs could carry her.

despite my best efforts, i could not get her to come back to the TV again. and i tried everything. i put treats in front of the screen. i put her favorite toy next to the TV. and i even dangled her ribbon from the top of the TV. but to no avail. she would have none of it.
however, ever since she was a tiny baby cat, i had noticed that she really likes taeyang's voice. i guess it's soothing for her, because she'd always stop and listen to him singing, until his part was over, and then she'd go hiss in the corner again.

so yesterday, when taeyang had his solo part, she went racing back to the TV...and then she started licking his face on the screen.

so, i guess she has a little crush...

BigBang The 4th Mini Album CD Review

V.I.Ps, and kpop fans alike, rejoiced when it was revealed that BigBang would return once again to the korean music scene. aside from solo projects and numerous cellphone ads, the 5-member group had virtually disappeared from korea for a long 2 years and 3 months. instead, they turned their attentions to an overseas market, releasing several jpop mini albums. because of this long absence, fans [like myself] were ecstatic about their comeback...counting down the days until the mini album's release date: february 24.

way back in 2008, BigBang released "remember"--an album that was practically perfect in every way. [and my personal favorite BigBang CD.] but since then, the kpop market has changed with the emergence of many new super popular boy bands [2PM, b2st, etc etc etc]. however, i believe that BigBang's 4th mini album--while being reminiscent of old BigBang--also shows that they have grown and matured as a group. it shows that they've still got "it"--the ability to dazzle audiences and dominate music charts.

like previous BigBang albums, the 4th mini album showcases their unique talents and abilities. and that's the primary reason why i like BigBang so much--they stand out against other kpop boy bands. because they [well, g-dragon...] write their own music, they are able to create unique, meaningful lyrics. additionally, they have shown both the unwillingness to compromise their creative integrity and the refusal to conform in a notoriously cookie cutter industry. [don't get me wrong, i LOVE me some kpop...but these days, they've been deputing so many new bands in a relatively small time frame, that everyone begins to look and sound the same...]

that being said...i was somewhat disappointed when i discovered that the new BigBang album would be just a mini album containing only 6 songs [one of which is an intro track]. i am impatient...greedy for more BigBang--NOW. however, the cd definitely lived up to my standards...and the hype that was created for it.

the album:
ok, so the cover art is a silver, metallic skull wearing headphones. umm, it's kind of creepy, not gonna lie. except for the sparkly-ness, i'm not sure that it exactly fits with their image...i mean, it's more like something i'd expect to see on a death-metal cd, not kpop. but, whatever.

the actual cd booklet, on the other hand, is super colorful. love it. the bright designs break up the monotony of the black/silver exterior, and their fashions are bold and unique.

the songs:
intro (thank you and you): even though this is only a short intro track, i really love it. the beat is super dance-y...it makes me excited to listen to the rest of the cd. which is kind of the point of an intro track anyways.
however, the hook--"i'm fine, thank you and you?"--is pretty much the entire english repertoire of most korean students [in my experience]. so thank you, BigBang; i now get to spend the rest of my esl teaching career listening to students sing this at me every time i ask "how are you?". [also, i'm pretty sure that the majority of my students only know kpop english...they can only recite the days of the week to the tune of "mazeltov" by ze:a, and any time they try to apoogize for something it's either sung as "sorry sorry sorry sorry" ("sorry sorry" by super junior) or "i'm so sorry but i love you" ("거짓말"--"lies" by bigbang). but i digress...]

hands up: this song was previously released on one of their japanese mini albums [last fall, i believe]. at the time, i didn't particularly care for the song...but i fell in love with it after hearing it performed live at the YG Family concert in december. other than the obvious fact that the language is different, the korean version on this mini album doesn't sound very different. it has a classic BigBang feel to it music-wise. the biggest difference that i noticed [between the japanese and korean versions] is in T.O.P's rap--which sounds better in the korean version--because he does a different thing to his voice; it's super hott.

tonight: this is the main title track from the album, and it is brilliant. the musical part is pop-y and dance-y, but at the same time it has a more mature, darker feel to it. they blend the contrasting tones of each of their 5 voices to create a uniquely beautiful song. the highlight of the song is towards the end--the music climaxes and suddenly stops, leaving a lone acoustic guitar playing the haunting melody, accompanied by vocals. i really love the use of falsetto during the chorus; it fits perfectly with the mood of the song.

somebody to love: this track was also a previously released jpop song [i think it was on the same mini album as "hands up"]. i loved it when i first heard it in japanese, and i still love it now. this song also has a classic BigBang feel to it. it's dance-y, pop-y, exciting, and fun. the chorus is essentially them declaring that they "want somebody to love", which i'm pretty certain has every girl screaming "I'M RIGHT HEREEEEE--LOVE ME!!" [or, maybe that's just me...]

what is right: this song reminds me of something that i'd listen to while driving in my car on a warm summer day with the windows down. it's a cute, fun song. it's not brilliant, and BigBang has certainly released better tracks [umm, "하루하루", "거짓말", "마자막 인사"..."day by day", "lies", "last farewell"...]. but it definitely gets your foot tapping, and it is legitimately fun to listen to.

cafe: ok. so this is probably my favorite song on the entire mini album. the very appropriately named "cafe" begins with a jazzy-sounding piano, accompanied by T.O.P's deeply sexy voice 13 seconds in. [i've literally listened to that part probably a million times...for optimum listening experience, i recommend earbuds, not speakers...it sounds like he's speaking right into your ears. not gonna lie, i died a little bit...] this song features silky smooth vocals from all 5 members--definitely showcasing their undeniable talent. taeyang's and g-dragon's falsetto parts do not disappoint, and they sound amazing together. daesung's voice sounds raw and passionate when he declares "you don't need me anymore". and seung ri's voice has a pure, yet mature quality to it [after all, he is only 20...]. i'm pretty sure this song has made me fall head-over-heels in love with all 5 of them. and it also gives me a craving for caramel machiattos...

my overall assessment of BigBang's The 4th Mini Album is that it is a great cd. i would definitely recommend it for both diehard V.I.P's and casual kpop fans. it features a great mix of old and new BigBang sounds. each track is different, and presents different emotions. both the music and the lyrics show how the boys have grown up and matured since the release of "remember", yet they still remain true to the unique style that made them famous to begin with.

good job, BigBang...your newest mini album definitely does not disappoint!!
[as an added bonus, here is "cafe" from the new mini album...listen to it, fall in love with them, and you'll understand what i was talking about...]

BIGBANG Big Show 2011

yesterday, i had the privilege of seeing the 1st of the 3 Big Show concerts. [the other two are today and tomorrow.] due to luck and my sheer amazingness at acquiring excellent concert tickets, i was able to secure standing spots on the first floor, by the side stage. unfortunately, i was unable to take any illegal creeper pictures//fancams due to the fact that i was unable to move my arms during the majority of the concert, and i was in plain view of a security guard. [this is because i ended up being right against the gate by the stage due to will power and determination--and unnaturally sharp elbows.]

the concert was every bit as amazing as i had expected. bigbang definitely knows how to please their fans and excite a crowd--their performances never disappoint.

i went to the concert with my friend, jen. [our friendship and shared love for bigbang works because i'm in love with T.O.P, and she's in love with G-Dragon.] we arrived at the venue really early because we wanted to check out the concert merch. which was a fail because the line was super long and we didn't want to wait. however, our early-ness definitely paid off, because we were interviewed on tv!! the camera guy just wanted us to say a few things in korean; so we said that we loved bigbang and were excited about the concert. and then we pulled out the signs that we had worked so hard to make [jen's for GD and mine for T.O.P~~obvi], and i said that i loved T.O.P because he was handsome, and the camera guy laughed. SCORE.

after braving the semi-coldness outside, and the crazy middle school fangirls inside, it was finally time for the concert to start!! the lights dimmed, and on the big screens, they showed the premiere of GDTOP's music video for "집에 가지마" [don't go home]...omygosh. best music video everrrr. after the video, it got really dark...music started playing and the crowd rushed forward towards the stage. bigbang was coming! they opened with "hands up", one of the songs off of their new mini album. it was sooo much fun being on the floor--everyone was jumping and screaming from pure excitement.

seung ri was the first to perform his solo stage, singing his new songs "V.V.I.P" and "어쩌라고" [what can i do]. i think he's always really entertaining to watch because he has a lot of confidence and charisma while performing.
the next solo stage was taeyang, who sang "where u at" and "i'll be there". amazing, as always. my only complaint was that he did not rip off his shirt and reveal his famous rock hard abs.
daesung performed a brand new song for his solo performance, "baby don't cry". omygosh. i CANNOT wait for his solo album to be released!! the song was probably one of my favorites during the concert. the performance was simple, but that just allowed to audience to focus on daesung's amazing vocals all the more. the song had a pop-rock feel to it, which suited his voice perfectly.
finally, it was GD&T.O.P's turn. they began with an amazing performance of my personal favorite, "뻑이가요" [knock out]. i had seen this song performed live 3 times previously, and this was most definitely my favorite. their outfits were amazing, the dancers were great, and the audience interaction was perfect. the duo came out on segways [GD rolled right past where i was standing!], and they even had an army tank on the stage...just like in the music video. next, they sang "oh yeah" with 박봄 [park bom] from 2NE1, and finally, "high high". all of bigbang joined them on the stage for their last song.

about halfway through the concert, bigbang showed the parody they had made of the incredibly popular kdrama, "secret garden". [it was seriously the best show of all time.] the parody was absolutely hilarious.

bigbang sang a lot of old favorites, including the acoustic version of "하루하루" [day by day]--which is my favorite version of my favorite korean song [which just so happens to be the song that got me hooked on bigbang]. they also performed all of the songs from their new mini album, which was released on thursday. i particularly enjoyed the performance of "cafe", because the song is super hot and [almost] everything about the performance was super hot as well. [the song showcases T.O.P's deep, sexy voice. ummheckyess.] the only thing that confused/bewildered me about the performances of their new songs were the outfits...seung ri and G-Dragon were wearing [wait for it]...

...SKIRTS. i mean, WHAT THE HECK?!?!??!?!?!? i have no idea what they were thinking when they decided that this would be a good idea. seung ri wore a freaking pleated black mini skirt over his jeans. [i read in an article online that they were trying to copy the fashions from the movie "300". it did not work out too well for them.] however, GD was wearing a straight up, legit skirt. like, it fell just below his knee. and it was gold. and sparkly. G-DRAGON THIS IS NOT OKAY!!!!!!!!! T.O.P was wearing some strange half skirt thing [it was literally half of a skirt. it covered only one leg...actually, it looked more like a weird apron]. i mean, at least he wasn't trying to rock a skirt-skirt, but still. not ok. at least daesung and taeyang resisted--they wore pants. like men.
i wasn't really surprised in GD's wardrobe choice [i mean, last year, he tried to rock a man skirt during the big show...at least this time he wore jeans underneath his skirt. last time, he was wearing what i can only assume were leggings]. however, i was surprised that he somehow managed into talking seung ri to go along with it. and that he was able to halfway convince T.O.P that it was a good idea.

fortunately for G-Dragon, he started playing a guitar halfway through the song "tonight", so i was willing to overlook and kind of forgive his fashion mis-hap. [this is because guys playing the guitar while singing are SUPER hott.]

the concert ended with the unveiling of bigbang's music video for their new song "tonight". and then the crowd began to chant: 사랑해! 사랑해! 사랑해! [we love you! we love you! we love you!] not gonna lie, i screamed my heart out with all those middle schoolers. after about five minutes of nonstop screaming, bigbang came back for the encore [that we all knew was coming]. they sang "always" and "볽은 노을" [sunset glow]. amazing. yet, at the same time sad...because it meant that the concert was ending.

my only disappointed with the show was the lack of T.O.P love that my side of the stage received. daesung and taeyang each came over once. seung ri came over a lot. and lingered. [and once again, saw me//waved...next time i'm making a sign for him haha] and GD rode by on his segway. but T.O.P didn't even come over once! [sad face ㅠㅠ] the only time he was kinda close was at the end, when all of bigbang came over to that side, but not on the side stage...they stayed on the main stage [it was during a part when they were talking]. they were probably 30 feet away from where i was standing, but i waved my sign around in the air anyways. i'm not sure if T.O.P saw it, although it's possible [i was the closest person to him with a sign]. sigh. oh well. there's always next time^^

after the concert, jen and i met up with allison, and the three of us were on tv...again!! the guy just wanted to know our thoughts on the concert, as well as which member was our favorite. once again, jen and i pulled out our signs...the camera guy seemed impressed//amused.

so basically, i'm kind of like a celebrity. or something like that...

25 February 2011

today, after having made V.I.Ps wait for 2 years and 3 months, BIGBANG has finally made their korean comeback *^_____________^*

i'm listening to their new mini-album now, while making my sign for tomorrow's concert [to be unveiled to the public later]. best day ever.

well, until tomorrow...because i get to see my boys up close and personal [1st floor standing tickets HECKYESS!!], and tomorrow is the official release date of their new cd [in hard copy form...today was the digital release date].

omygosh i'm going to be so close to this hottness, i might dieeeeeeee~~

18 February 2011

BIGBANG IS BACK...almost

YG has been teasing V.I.Ps for months regarding BIGBANG's comeback album [as a group, they've been missing from the korean music scene for about 2 years...although they have released quite a few japanese singles, plus g-dragon, taeyang, gdtop, and seung-ri have released successful albums/mini-albums during bigbang's korean hiatus].

after pushing back the official release date just enough times to drive fans absolutely crazy, the official word is that bigbang's 4th mini-album will be dropped next thursday.

earlier this week, they teased us with the offical tracklist.

and today, concept photos!! YAYYYYYY!!

T.O.P's new hair looks kinda...fugly. but whatever, he's T.O.P and therefore will always be supersupersexy regardless of his hairstyle. also, HOLYCRAPDAESUNG. he looks...ahh-may-zing.

hottness overload

the MAMAs are over. 2PM won a crapload of awards. and taeyang, T.O.P, and g-dragon gave hands down the hottest performance everrrr.

OH.MY.GOSHHHHHHHHH.*dies*

also, last week i discovered the tragical news that my beloved T.O.P had destroyed his beautifully perfect hair by dying it. BLONDE. i was disgusted, heartbroken, and enraged. i desperately wanted to find the person who had done this horrible thing to him, and i dunno, injure them or something.

but then, after watching his performance tonight, i decided that he is super attractive no matter what his hair looks like, and he can kinda rock the blonde. although his black hair is much hotter.

seoul soul festival 2010

this past weekend was the seoul soul festival, which was held at the korean war memorial in yongsan.

since the tickets were really expensive [88,000 KRW], i could only afford to see the show on saturday. totally ok, because that was the only day that SE7EN and 태양 [taeyang] were performing anyways.

i think i have officialy reached crazy fangirl status, because even though it was only my second time seeing SE7EN live, it was my fifth time to see taeyang live. unless you count the times i've seen him performing with bigbang, in which case it was my eighth time. [luckily--for taeyang and kpop singers everywhere--i will be taking a short hiatus from concert-going.]
anyways~~i went with al and col [my regular concert buddies]. we had to wait in lines for-freaking-ever. the event did not seem to be very well organized. the website stated that we had to be in line at 4pm to pick up our tickets. they didn't even open the eticket-trade-in booth until 4:45, and THEN there were supposed to be different lines depending on where you purchased the ticket, but the lines weren't labelled! it was a confusing mess. also, everyone was assigned a ticket number for their gate. the point was to line up in number order. this proved to be a task much too difficult for anyone to do. we all were like a huge, jumbled mass. also, the gates did NOT open at 5:30, as promised by the website. they didn't let my gate enter until almost 6:45!

but things settled down once we finally were able to go through the gate. col and i ended up having pretty amazing spots. we were about 4 people away from the stage [and by "stage" i mean "hottness"]. OH.MY.GOSH sooooo close!!

the concert itself was pretty amazing. SE7EN went on first, and he sang some songs off of his newest mini album [digital bounce*^^*...minus T.O.P ㅠ.ㅠ], as well as old favorites. he is an absolutely incredible performer. i mean, you can tell he's a good singer from listening to his recordings...but, to hear him live...you realize just how extremely talented he is. wow.

next was taeyang, who was incredible as always. he sang mostly just his brand new stuff, with the exception of 기도 and 나만 바라봐. [my favorites, so i was pleased.] obviously, this was not on as grand a scale as his solo concert, but he's still impressive nonetheless. fantastic vocals, fantastic choreography--he really knows how to engage a crowd. added bonus: he ripped his shirt off during his encore. sigh.
also, col and i were pretty much the only people with bigbang light sticks, and we're pretty sure that taeyang saw us.

after taeyang was the intermission, and i left during that because musiq soulchild was next and i have no idea who that is...
now it's time for YAYY pictures~!

SE7EN--ack! sooo close!!

ohh man...he looks like he's looking straight at my camera~~EEEEKKK~!

너무 멋있어요 *^^*

AHH-MAY-ZING

29 September 2010

TAEYANG CONCERT [round two]

it is a well-established fact that i am a crazy person, somewhat fangirlish, and kinda obsessed with bigbang. therefore, i fully support the solo efforts of each of the five members of bigbang. so when it was announced that taeyang would be giving TWO performances of his first full-length solo concert [he had a mini solo concert maybe 2-ish years ago when his mini-album, HOT, was released], i knew that attending both would be a necessity to my life.

on sunday, i went to the second and last performance of taeyang's solar concert.
my seats were located on the third floor, sixth row, right side. the previous night, i sat on the left side of the first floor; it was good to get a different view of the concert. since the concert hall was very small, the third floor seats weren't bad at all--i actually had a really good view.

the second concert was amazing and perfect in every way, just like the first performance. there were a few minor differences, and two major differences between the two. the minor differences included slightly different dances and lyrics.

the concert began with the intro track from solar playing, along with a video showing taeyang entering the concert hall. the lights dimmed. the fangirls screamed. and then, slowly, a white circle was lowered down onto the center of the stage. taeyang, dressed in a quite bling-y white outfit with his signature aviators, was standing in the circle. he stepped onto the stage and the band began to play the opening notes of 기도 [prayer]. i screamed enthusiastically--기도 is my favorite taeyang song.
every song was perfection [or at least, near-perfection]. i was amazed at how the band was able to transition seamlessly from song to song. and at how perfectly the song order had been chosen. he sang songs from all three of his albums: mini-album HOT, solar, and solar international.

my one criticism is that he sang the song "you're my" which i absolutely and utterly despise because it is pretty much the worst song ever [ok, so maybe not...but it's not good]. although, i will admit that hearing it live is approximatly one million times better than hearing the recording. also, when taeyang sang "you're my" he was looking pretty spiffy [and by "spiffy" i mean "hott"] in a suit.

the best outfits [worn by taeyang and his backup dancers] were, in my opinion, the ones worn during the songs "superstar" and "breakdown" [<--my favorite song from solar]. they looked like part of a drum line: red military style jackets with white pants worn by the guys, and the girls wore the red jackets with red miniskirts, white boots, and red hats with a white poofy feather on the front. sooo cool.

actually, "breakdown" was probably my favorite performance during the show. i lovelovelove the song, the outfits were amazing, and the choreography was excellent. also, taeyang just looked like he was having a lot of fun during that song.

IU was there as a guest performer both nights. [she's so cute.] she and taeyang sang a duet, and then she sang a solo song. both songs were in english. [taeyang sang 2 other songs in english as well during the concert.] it was quite impressive.

he ended the concert with a remixed version of 나만 바라봐 [only look at me]. sooo amazing. after finishing the song, he walked off the stage and the lights dimmed. but the audience wanted more, screaming for an encore for several minutes. suddenly, the band began to play once again, and taeyang came back [as we all knew he would]! he sang "where u at" and "take it slow"--a perfect encore. "take it slow" is a song written by taeyang himself, and is absolutely gorgeous live; it suits his voice so perfectly [and that boy can sing].

both the saturday and sunday show were like that...but, on sunday...

...OH.MY.GOSH. 2NE1 was there!! they are definitely my favorite of the kpop girl groups, and they sang 2 songs off of their new album: "can't nobody" and "go away".

also on sunday...

TAEYANG GAVE A SECOND ENCORE.

it was much, much later. the house lights came on, and EVERYONE started to leave. myself included. i was waiting in the lobby on the first floor when suddenly, i heard screaming. i wasn't about to wait and see what was going on, and instead, i immediately took action.

i went running back into the concert hall. some security people said something to me, but i didn't listen. i didn't care. all i knew was that taeyang was walking back onto the stage and i was absolutely going to be there to see it. due to my quickness and stealth, i found myself FREAKING EIGHT FEET from the stage and from taeyang himself. OH.MY.GOSH. i nearly died.

also--and importantly--i'm pretty sure that taeyang saw the sign i made. [결혼하고 싶어요 "i want to marry you".] me and my sign also [briefly] made it onto the screen during the second encore ANNDDD, before the concert, me and my sign were filmed by someone from some tv show. which means that my plan of making bigbang aware of my existence is moving along quite nicely. excellent.

during the second encore, taeyang sang 나만 바라봐 and "take it slow". during 나만 바라봐, he let the audience sing the chorus, and it was beautiful and wonderful and amazing and perfect. i really didn't want it to end.

sigh.

the concert hall at kyunghee university.

me and my famous sign...with taeyang ^^

coleen, allison, and me...sooo ready for the saturday night performance

at the sunday night show...the crown headband is totally legit [it's bigbang's symbol]

i was THAT close during the second encore on sunday--EEEEKKKK~!

OH.MY.GOSHHHHH. [i stole this picture from coleen ㅋㅋㅋ]

26 September 2010

TAEYANG CONCERT [round one]

태양 [taeyang]: famous for randomly ripping off his shirt and having perfect abs. oh, and also for being a super talented dancer, singer, and pianist. [or something like that, his abs are kind of distracting.]

so last night, i went with coleen and allison to taeyang's first solo concert: solar.

AHH-MAY-ZING [does not even begin to describe it].

coleen and i sat on the left side of the auditorium [the concert was held at a college campus, which was beautiful, by the way]. first row on the second section of the first floor. row fourteen. like, thirty feet away from taeyang. holy crap. and when he sang on the side stage, he was even closer.

he ripped of his shirt like two times. and he threw it out into the audience. i guess he can't throw thirty feet, though.

he brought a girl out of the audience to sing to her on the stage. i hate her a little bit.

there was a g-dragon sighting before the show. but, even though taeyang collaborated with him on a song, g-dragon never made an official appearance.

also, T.O.P never made an appearance. i would be sad, if taeyang wasn't so amazing.

i made a sign that said "결혼하고 싶어요". which means, "i want to marry you". i am uncertain whether or not taeyang actually saw the sign or not, but i'm just gonna go ahead and assume that he did.

today i'm going to see taeyang again. because i am slightly crazy. but it's ok, because he's worth it.

above: hottness.

20 September 2010

best week ever??

maybe~

this week may very well be the best week. ever.

1.) NO SCHOOL THIS WEEK [yayy~!!]
2.) tomorrow i'm going to busan with coleen. for four days ^__^
3.) 추석 [chuseok--korean thanksgiving] is on wednesday. [i mean, i'm not korean so i don't really celebrate this...but whatever. holidays are cool.]
4.) TAEYANG concert on saturday. i'll be only FOURTEEN rows from taeyang. and hopefully T.O.P [sigh.]
5.) TAEYANG concert on sunday. much worse seats, but whatever...it's freaking taeyang. and hopefully T.O.P [yeah...i'm going twice. don't judge me *^^*]

yayness ^___________^

LOVE.

07 September 2010

digital bounce

this song isn't particularly new, but i have been listening to it on repeat since i saw SE7EN at the incheon hallyu music wave concert.

omygosh. lovveee. SE7EN annddd T.O.P~~of course it's amazing. [the best part is at 2:27 when my boy hits the stage *^^*]

also, yesterday i somehow managed to score 14th row tickets to taeyang's solo concert on september 25. [jumps around ecstatically]
when tickets first went on sale a few weeks ago, i was able to obtain 3rd floor tickets to the september 26 show. yeahhh, so i'm gonna go twice. because i'm just cool like that.

incheon hallyu music wave concert 2010

last night, coleen and i went to the incheon hallyu music wave concert. despite the fact that it had been storming alllll day, we both decided that we still wanted to go even though the concert would be held outside.

our craziness was rewarded with cool, dry weather. awesome.

i made signs to confess my undying love for SE7EN and taeyang. and i screamed like a middle school girl. OMYGOSH they were AHH-MAY-ZING. [understatement.]

i also particularly enjoyed the performances by F.T.Island, C.N.Blue [정용화*^^*], 2PM, B2st, MBLAQ, Super Junior, U-KISS, and BoA.

i had sincerely hoped that T.O.P would be there to sing SE7EN's song that they collaborated on. i even made a sign for him, just in case. sadly, despite the fact that SE7EN did indeed sing "digital bounce", T.O.P did not make an appearance. sigh.

but, everything was okay, because i did get to see this:

SE7EN. 너무 멋있어요 *^^*

and also this:

동영배~~사랑해요 *^_______^*

29 August 2010

apparently, it's typhoon season

so it's raining and i'm getting ready to go to a concert...

...which is outside, but i'm going anyways because i am a crazy person.
[and also because i love SE7EN, taeyang, and C.N.Blue.]

sadly, bigbang will not be performing today, but i'm hoping that T.O.P will make a special guest appearance if SE7EN sings the song they collaborated on.

in other news, i bought taeyang's international album yesterday, and it's pretty tight.

25 August 2010

ohh, hello again, korea~

today is my first full day back in korea and i'm so tired i feel like i might die. or fall asleep.

i'm at school right now because i had to work today because i didn't plan out my vacation time very well.

bigbang released a brand-new music video today. so i'm just going to go ahead and assume that it is my "welcome back to korea" present from bigbang/T.O.P.

as a bonus surprise, taeyang also re-released his newest music video. in english. ummheckyess.

02 July 2010

boy, i need a boy

tired of being alone. sick of being single. i think i need me a [boy]. i need a [boy] like...?

...like any/all of them.

replace "boy" with "girl" and you've got the intro for taeyang's title track "i need a girl" from his new solo album solar, which was FINALLY released yesterday. [i mean, taeyang teased us with "where u at" and "wedding dress" waayyyyy back in october.]

so i nearly had a heart attack yesterday because i literally could not find his album ANYWHERE. [because i was dumb and didn't pre-order it...what was i thinking?!?!?] i had given up on finding the cd, when i stumbled across a store that had only 2 copies left [much thanks to christi ^^] by this time, it was 10:30 pm. since i was--thankfully--able to obtain the deluxe edition, it also came with a t-shirt and a super hott picture of taeyang [as if a not-hott picture of him exists]. HECKYESS.

i've been listening to the cd nonstop since then. [not gonna lie, i'm listening to it right now. at school. ㅋㅋㅋ]

solar starts off amazing. and with each song, it seems to get even more and more amazing. there's absolutely no way that i could write a non-biased, objective review of the cd, because i just love taeyang [and the rest of bigbang] entirely too much. i will say, however, that the first couple of times i listened to "superstar", the second track on his album, i wasn't overly fond of the song. the trumpet intro--to me--seemed a bit cheesy and over-the-top, but i will say that the song has grown on me the more i listen to it. [i mean, it's not like i hate the song, and i'm not gonna skip over it every time i listen to the cd; it's just not my favorite.] i am going to hate on the metaphors he uses in the song "you're my". like seriously, who ever wrote this song--it's not ok. "you're my ice cream, my sweetest ice cream." really??

the songs are mixed really well, and the slow rhythms really compliment taeyang's silky smooth voice. like, omygosh, it's even better listening to it with earbuds. it's really hard to pick a favorite. but right now, i'm really loving "i need a girl" and "just a feeling". [ok, so "break down" just came on and i remembered how much i love it too. aigoo.]

you make me say "yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah"

also, taeyang dropped his new music video for "i need a girl". and it is BANGIN'!! for realz. [ok, so i still think that T.O.P's new video is the hottest thing ever. but that's because he's my number one, and also allison would kill me for crushing on her man. she totally won him during 가위 바위 보.]

plus, g-dragon makes an appearance in the video, significantly adding to the hottness factor. [my favorite part is when g-dragon makes the announcement "i love girls", in case anyone needed to have that clarified ㅋㅋㅋ]

for your viewing pleasure:

my final rating for solar: two out of two fangirls.

this is the best kind of rating.

need more taeyang?? check out reallywally's totally biased [she is his #1 fan, after all], but more thorough, review here.

01 July 2010

welcome to july

today is the first day of the most important month of the year.
i will celebrate the twenty-third anniversary of my birth on bastille day [another bangin' holiday, i'm sure.]

yeah, that looks pretty tight.

even though i don't particularly like birthdays, i do like making lists. [i also like presents.] so if you love me/kinda like me/are aware of my existence and feel compelled to buy me a present, i will accept anything from the following list. and also money. kthnx.

1.) large hello kitty calculator

this calculator is the size of a notebook, and i feel like i really need to carry this around in my purse in case i ever feel the need to randomly solve a tricky math problem.

2.) BIGBANG t-shirt

because who doesn't want to show off their love for the greatest [and also the most attractive] kpop group ever??

you can order the t-shirt [for me] here.
3.) iPod

pretty much any new, working model would be acceptable. i for real need a new one because my old iPod hates me/is possessed by satan/both.

true story: my iPod actually glares at me.

this concludes my list. i'm really easy to please. ^^

on a totally unrelated--and quite possibly more awesome--note, today is the day that taeyang's solo cd is FINALLY released. [after like 7 months of waiting. for real.] so imma pick up my copy right after school, and you can expect a full review of it by tomorrow *^^*

EXCITEMENT!! HOTTNESS!! HOORAY!!

05 April 2010

my weekend according to me

thursday:

so i feel like my weekend actually started on thursday, because that was the night of the amazingness concert.

basically, front row tickets are the best. and sitting about ten feet away from taeyang is also the best.

we got to the concert venue early. reallyyyy early. so we had a lot of time to wait and be anxious. and be excited. and by "excited" i, of course, mean "pee-in-your-pants-and-squeal-like-a-middle-school-girl excited". but it was well worth the wait. the second taeyang walked onto the stage, i absolutely thought i would melt. he sang two songs--"where u at" and "wedding dress"--and was positively amazing. and also amazingly hott. also, he made eye love to allison and i was kinda sorta a lot jealous.

and then, it was brian mcknight's turn. i have to say, before the concert, i wasn't too excited about seeing him. but man, was he ahh-freaking-mazing. also, his sons sang. the crappy part about that was that we ACTUALLY SAW HIS SONS while we were at dinner. we had the opportunity to talk to them, but wrote them off as chair-setter-uppers. yeah, we're pretty dumb. also, taeyang came back out to sing a duet with brian mcknight. which was bangin'. during this part, i made a "hand heart" and screamed "i love you, dong young-bae" [his real name]. multiple times. in korean and english. at which point he smiled, looked in my direction, and pointed. [i would like to think he was pointing at me and thinking "dang, that girl is attractive. she would be perfect for my friend t.o.p"].

so 1/5 of bigbang is kinda sorta aware-ish of my existence. so my plan is very rapidly-ish falling in to place.

friday:

i caught a bus to 강릉 to visit whit-nizzle for the weekend. we stayed in a love motel. my first love motel experience. it was...not very exciting.

saturday:

we took the train to 고한. it was the last weekend that the ski slopes were open.

the only problem with this is that i have never been skiing or snowboarding before. this is because i am not at all coordinated in any way, shape, or form.

so we decided to go snowboarding. which, in my case, was an EPIC FAIL.

basically, it took me two hours to get maybe 150 feet down a part of the beginner slope. not even close to finishing. the highlights included: me running into a fence, running into a fence again, coming near a fence and grabbing on to it for dear life, and nearly getting my arm ripped off by said fence.

so then i gave up, and attempted a much more extreme sport: snowboard-sledding. that's right, i sat down on the snowboard and proceeded to sled down the slopes. which was SUPERFUN. but incredibly hard to steer. the highlights included: seeing that i was about to run into whitney, screaming in terror, running in to whitney, flipping off of the snowboard-sled, flailing in the snow while watching the snowboard continue without me down the mountain, and chasing the snowboard down the mountain.

good times.

sunday:

i caught the bus back to seoul. about an hour in to the trip, i am fairly certain that someone decided to poop on the bus.

i should add that:
1.) there were no babies or children on the bus.
2.) this was a FOUR HOUR LONG bus ride.
3.) even if the culprit had waited until the last five minutes, that would STILL have been too long to ride in a bus that smells like poop.

the end.

01 April 2010

TONIGHTTONIGHTTONIGHT

i will be standing mere feet away from this guy:ohh yess
this is because my friend, allison, scored front row tickets to his concert.

and by "his concert" i actually mean "brain mcknight's concert".

that's right. this guy is the opening act:

and also the only one i want to see

so i'm just a little excited to see my future husband...'s friend.

because taeyang is hott

pictured: the future husband...and friend.

also, i really hope that he sings this song:
